Voiceover

For our voiceover, we used Mr Thornton, a teacher at our school as a voiceover because of his recognisable Scouse accent. For our Voiceover of the documentary we gave him the following to say for us

It may be famous for its music scene, its football teams and its comedians, but at the beating heart of Liverpool is its people... The Scousers and their sense of humour

Loud mouths, thieves, and scroungers are just some of the labels scousers have been given over the years. Coupled with images of curly haired track suit wearing chavs with moustaches, the picture of scousers isn't exactly positive. But are the people really like this?

Love it or hate it, the Scouse accent is immediately recognisable, but where exactly does it originate from?

Liverpool is also known for its culinary delights. Scouse, a common addition to any Liverpool pub menu, may not exactly be haute cuisine, but like Scousers themselves is a warming and unique dish.

In additon, we also gave Mr Thornton the following to say for our Radio trailer as one of the conventions of a documentary is to have the same voice for the documentary and for the radio

What do you call a scouser in a suit?
A successful business man from the North West.
Over the years scousers have been portrayed as thieves, curly haired chavs and Liverpool is seen as somewhere that police sirens are heard just as often as the Beatles.
Comedian Interview
But in fact liverpudlians are renowned for their love of their hometown and the people in it
“we’re most friendly in the country....” Bekkas friend
Known for their sense of humour,
“Born this way, natural comedians” old women
their massive music scene and their iconic accent.
Sound as a Pound is taking you on a journey up the Mersey to discover the reality of the place affectionately known as “the pool” and the scousers who live there.
Calm down, calm down it’s only a documentary.

Scheduling

We learnt there are 3 types of scheduling

Inheritance- Scheduling a new programme after a popular programme in the hope it inherits some of the audience

Pre-Echo- Scheduling a programme before  a popular programme, in the hope people turn on early to watch and see the end of the new programme and like it, and therefore watch the next edition of the programme

Hammoking- Scheduling a programme between 2 popular programmes, so it benefits from both inheritance and Pre-Echo
